Originally beginning as a participatory-exploratory music
ethnography project in Urbana, IL in late 2007, Shor was
born out of collaborations between some of the artists off
Tape Records Inc. Shor’s recordings are free-form and
experimental, generally employing the use of synthesizers
and drum machines but are not necessarily limited to any
kind of instrumental or sonic constraints. Many of the
recordings Shor has created thus far could be
considered to fall somewhere along the lines of experimental techno
but assigning a genre to Shor would defeat the purpose of the conception it represents in the first place.
